They provide controls for heating, cooling, indoor air quality, ventilation, humidification and home automation; advanced software applications for home/building control and switches, controls systems and instruments for measuring pressure, air flow, temperature, electrical current and more. Given the increasing market demand for intelligent software driven products, this business unit has created a centralized organization in Rolle, Switzerland. This is a new position in this new group.
ROLE - Global Quality Manager (Software Process Improvement and Compliance)
In this cross functional role with no direct management responsibilities you will act as an individual contributor supporting software development teams located in Europe, USA and Asia.
As a Global Quality Manager your role is threefold: (1) to initiate and lead Software Process Improvement (SPI) initiatives to increase project execution performance across a global product development organization, (2) to assure process compliance through project audits and appraisals, and (3) to influence existing practices and behavior as well as facilitate the adoption of state-of-the-art software practices such as Iterative Development, Model-Driven Development, and Systematic Software Reuse or Software Product Lines.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
• Software Excellence
- Support project teams and provide practical help
- Initiate and lead Software Process Improvement (SPI) initiatives to drive teams to higher levels of software excellence
- Organize and lead the Software Engineering Process Group (SEPG)
- Create training material, organize and carry out training sessions
- Comprehensively document software processes
• Process Compliance and Quality governance
- Assure process compliance of software projects (review of project artifacts, performance metrics, audits)
- Organize and conduct CMMI appraisals; this includes compliance gap analysis, improvement planning, consulting and mentoring
- Gather process performance data, compile metrics and publish reports
PERSON SPEC – higher rating more important
• 10 - Masters or bachelors degree in computer science or software engineering, or equivalent
• 10 - 5-7 years experience in software development through all stages of the project life cycle
• 10 - Experience in iterative software development methods (e.g. RUP, Scrum, XP)
• 10 - Familiar with embedded systems development and / or PC application development
• 09 - Excellent coordinator, ability to interact with multiple functional groups across the globe
• 09 - Experience in software quality management
• 09 - Experience in process change management
• 08 - Expertise in process frameworks such as CMMI / ISO / SPICE practices and guidelines
• 08 - Experience in Software Configuration Management (SCM) including change and release management
• 08 - English native level
• 08 - Happy and able to travel ca. 25% worldwide
• 07 – Exposure to advanced development practices such as Model Driven Development (MDD), Software Product Lines (SPL) and Agile methods
